Metal tile in Constanta Novatik is the first metal tile in small panels produced in Romania. The steel from which Novatik tiles are produced is stable, resistant and safe. The steel with Colofer® coating - the trademark of VoestAlpine - has a thickness of 0.5 mm and a ZnMg coating of 120gr on both sides. The ZnMg alloy is very stable in salt fog conditions and provides increased corrosion protection (both for the sheet surface and for the cutting edges or holes).

1. INCREASED LIFE DUE TO THE MG + ZN INNOVATIVE LAYER
One of the most important choices we have to make when a new product is born, along with its design, is to determine the type of alloy that best suits its specific application. Aluminum-zinc, magnesium-zinc and titanium-zinc alloys are the most common types of non-ferrous metal alloys used for corrosion protection of metal coatings.
The ZnMg alloy is an alloy in which zinc has a major share and the percentage of magnesium in the alloy structure is rigorously controlled because it defines the properties of the alloy. The metals in the alloy structure are precisely adapted to the hot-dip galvanizing and rolling process in VoestAlpine Austria steelworks and make this material the ideal choice in metal roofing applications.
The recognized advantages of magnesium in ZnMg alloy include a unique mixture of low density, high specific strength, rigidity, heat dissipation and vibration absorption.
Also, the stabilization of zinc in the process of corrosion with magnesium makes the thickness of the protective layer much thinner, providing the same high quality of protection against corrosion.
In addition, it provides increased protection against cut edges ("sharp" edges) and accidental scratches, because one of the properties of ZnMg-protected steel is "self-healing". Steel exposed in areas where the protective layer has been damaged (scratches, cut edges, holes, etc.) is protected from dissolving the adjacent protective layer, which is preferentially corroded, unlike steel.
In the coastal area, the behavior of the protective layer of steel is different. The salt content of the air is inversely proportional to the distance from the sea shore. Zinc oxidizes to the same extent as in urban or rural areas, with the difference that it comes in direct contact with the salinity of the sea water (the area where the waves break) and with the areas where the evaporation of sea water is strong. The recommendation of VoestAlpine specialists for such an atmosphere is the type of HighCoat protection, which has the corrosion protection of zinc 275 g / sqm or Zinc-Magnesium 120 g / sqm and 50 microns polyurethane / polyamide, excellent construction material for roofing in the coastal area.
2. Robust fastening based on shear strength
Novatik modules are mounted on the surface of the roof, starting from top to bottom and fixed using ribbed nails, anticorrosive treated or galvanized screws with washer and EPDM gasket, parallel to the plane of the roof, on the horizontal slat with a minimum section of 40/50 mm. In the intersection areas, the panels are folded for a perfect seal, without the need for sealants, silicone, gaskets or sealing sponges.
The number of nails or screws is at least 8 pcs / sqm, ensuring a firm, tight fixation (each nail / screw penetrates parallel to the plane of the roof two overlapping sheet metal modules, making impossible water infiltration in the area of the fastener) .
